Types of Hydraulic Cranes
One of the most popular cranes in the construction business is hydraulic cranes. They are utilized to make everything from buildings and skyscrapers to freeway overpasses and roadways.
There is a huge range of crane units, styles and sizes available on the market. There are a lot of different types in order to serve a variety of different reasons in the business. Choosing the right type of crane is crucial for making certain that the material could be safely and efficiently moved to the place it has to get to in order for the construction process to start.
Truck Cranes
Typically, truck cranes have 2 different cabs. One cab is for controlling the crane and the other is for driving the truck when the unit is in transport mode. These cranes are really helpful for building sites where a crane is needed in many different places for the duration of the build. This is due to the fact that the crane can be easily driven from one location to another.
Cranes can also be transported to different construction sites on the road because they drive themselves, which eliminates the need for extra transport vehicles. Being able to travel on their own really reduces transport costs at the end of the day.
One disadvantage of a truck crane is that it is not stable enough sitting on tires alone in order to be able to lift the major loads that a hydraulic crane could handle. Therefore, to be able to fix this problem, outriggers could be extended from the deck. The outriggers make use of hydraulic pressure to be able to lift the truck slightly off of the ground, making it balanced and stable.
Crawler-Mounted Cranes
The crawler crane is unique in that it has big tracks on the base of the crane. These massive tracks are very like backhoes and bulldozers. The tracks allow the crane to successfully move around a construction site.
