A type of equipment in the material handling industry which can be utilized to raise and transport loads from one location to another is known as a forklift. Each and every component of a forklift has a particular function. Different components can be utilized to move the load vertically or horizontally.
Mast
The parts utilized to lower and lift the load is called the forklift mast. There are different types of masts used for lifting loads to different heights: duplex, triplex, quad and simplex.
Power Supply
There are four various ways you can power a forklift: electric, gas, propane and diesel. The battery is situated in the cab under the seat. The propane tank is situated on the rear of the truck. The fuel tank on gas and diesel forklifts is under the rear of the truck.
Cab
The forklift cab is located within the center of the truck. This is where the operator sits and accesses all the informational gauges and controls. The steering wheel, gas pedal, brake, lifting controls and tilting controls are all situated in the cab.
Frame
Carrying all the largest forklift components is the frame of the truck. This consists of the counterweights located at the back which prevents the truck from tipping over when loaded. The frame includes the overhead guard that protects the operator. The undercarriage holds the wheels, driveshaft and axles.
