Change an LPG Cylinder
Forklifts are powered by various sources. They can run utilizing liquid propane or LP gas, gasoline, battery or diesel. LP is a clean burning fuel preferred for various uses. There are several facilities which have large liquid propane supplies on site. This enables forklifts to be refueled anytime they require. In other places, the facility would have spare LP cylinders which could be changed out when the equipment needs to be refueled.
So as to avoid potentially serious injury, specific safety measures should be taken when changing out an LP cylinder. For instance: be sure to put on the appropriate safety equipment like safety glasses or goggles and heavy gloves. Turn off the forklift ignition before changing out the tank. Then, close the cylinder valve by turning it until it is firmly closed. Use your hand to loosen the hose connection to the tank. Don't forget that it will turn in the opposite direction of a standard connection and never utilize a metal tool or any kind of wrench on these connections. They are meant to be tightened by hand only.
