Caterpillar Pneumatic Tire Forklifts Salt Lake City

Caterpillar Pneumatic Tire Forklifts Salt Lake City

Use a Pneumatic Forklift

Pneumatic forklifts are common in warehouse and shipping operations. Also known as pallet trucks or pump trucks, they are used to transport supplies and things around on wooden pallets using metal forks mounted on a wheeled counterweight. The counterweight contains a pump which raises the forks off the ground. A pallet truck is intended to be operated by a single person.

To be able to prevent loosing control while lifting heavy loads, pallet trucks should always be operated carefully. Equipment must be inspected prior to operating. Clear the wheels area of any obstructions. Check that the handle turns smoothly. The pallet should be carefully stacked to be able to ensure that nothing will fall off during transportation.

On the end of the pallet truck's handle, squeeze the level found on the inside of the metal loop in order to release the air in the pump and lower the forks. The forks can then be pushed into the pallet slots. The forks must be centered to ensure equal distribution of the pallet's weight across them. Raise the forks from the ground by pumping the handle of the pneumatic lift until the pallet has fully cleared the ground. Do not raise the pallet too high or the forklift can unbalance.

Move the pallet by pulling on the handle and dragging it behind you. It is not safe to push the pallet ahead of you as the momentum could cause it to lose control. Slowly take turns and don't try to stop suddenly. Slowly stop, squeeze the lever, and the forks will lower to the ground. Finally, remove the forks from the pallet by pulling them out. Return the pallet truck to its permanent location.
